Children's Play Area and Seaquarium Improvements

During the winter months, work has been taking place inside the Pyramid to pave the way for a new children’s play area. The project was initially announced last year but will now open during the 2013 season. A name and theming for the new attraction are yet to be determined. More details will be announced by Fantasy Island in the next few weeks.

Elsewhere in the Pyramid, renovation work is being carried out on the Magical Seaquarium ride. This includes cosmetic improvements to revitalise the UV theming as well as a track modification to create more space for a future project in the lower level of the Pyramid.

Safari Land Train and Circus Convoy Removed

The new synthetic ice rink which was opened at Fantasy Island last week is situated beside The Beast. Unfortunately, this has resulted in both the Safari Land Train and the Circus Convoy ride being removed and therefore unavailable for guests to use. A mini quad bike area has also opened beside the new ice rink. Aimed at the under 8's, it is another pay per ride attraction priced at £3 for just under thirty minutes. Introducing pay per ride attractions such as these devalues the benefits of the wristband promotion which was launched earlier this year. Fortunately, both the skating rink and mini quad bikes are only temporary attractions, but are expected to be at the park until the end of October.

Safari Train Ruins

Safari Train Ruins

The Safari Train ride which was recently relocated to the main fairground from the market has had its previous site gutted. The remaining foliage, station structure and fencing have all been removed. This confirms that this is a permanent relocation. The removed foliage has not been relocated with the ride itself.

The footprint of Safari train is large enough to accommodate another ride attraction. However, due to the obstacle of Millennium Coasters supports it is unlikely we will see a major thrill ride here in the near future. At this point we can only assume that the space will be used for new market stalls.

Magical Seaquarium Gets a New Lease of Life

The regeneration scheme which is currently taking place at the park has now made its way into the pyramid starting with the Magical Seaquarium that takes riders on a tour underneath the pyramid into the darkness to discover the myths behind Fantasy Island. New theming elements have been added to the ride which include water fountains, whale and fisherman statues, and a ‘wall of water’ feature! Lots of paint work taken place, and some new lighting has been added that gives an underwater effect. Check out the image below to get an idea of how the Seaquarium looks after its spruce up:

Also the Dragon Mountain has been polished up with new materials along the sides of the water channels. However, this ride failed to open this weekend like many others.
