Community Radio Station Rebranded

The community radio station, which launched in July 2012, has recently been rebranded. Initially named Bracin’ Radio, the station is now known as Lindsey Online and broadcasts from Fantasy Island. There are a number of shows being presented for the station, complemented by non-stop music during non-presented time slots. The station will feature local news and community focussed interviews as well as showcase musicians and bands.

Currently, the station is broadcasting online, with options for listeners to tune in via the website, Internet radio or mobile phone applications. There are plans for the station to broadcast over FM in the local area for 28 days in August 2013, which will support their application for a community radio licence.

New Community Radio Station

A new community radio station recently launched in Ingoldmells. Named Bracin’ Radio, the station is based at Fantasy Island and is currently broadcasting around the amusement park as well as online. The station has been described by Ron Searle (General Manager at Fantasy Island) as “an opportunity to bring the community and commercial worlds of Skegness and Ingoldmells together in an exciting, new and engaging way”. A number of presenters with a diverse range of music is already filling the schedule, complemented by non-stop music during non-presented time slots. The full schedule is available to view on the station’s website, where you can also listen to the live stream. There are long term plans for the station to eventually broadcast over FM as well as satellite television services.

Plans to Reduce Congestion

Plans to Reduce Congestion

Traffic calming measures have been implemented to tackle the congestion problems at the junction of Sea Lane and Roman Bank. This change means that south-bound traffic, travelling along Roman Bank towards Skegness, is no longer allowed to turn right into Sea Lane. Various approaches have been attempted over the years, such as changing the timings of the traffic lights. The situation will be monitored over the coming months.

John Woodward Dies

John Woodward, chairman and managing director of Blue Anchor Leisure, has passed away.
Woodward was responsible for successfully developing Fantasy Island and the surrounding Ingoldmells area into what it is today. His services to tourism were recognised in 2005 when he received an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. With the sale of Fantasy Island in 2006, Woodward was listed as one of the wealthiest people in Britain. His lasting impression on Ingoldmells is reflected in the amazing selection of rides and attractions at Fantasy Island, as well as the 20 caravan parks he has invested in over the years.

New Traffic Management Strategy

Plans are to be implemented in June 2010 to control the flow of traffic in Ingoldmells. During busier times of the year, the traffic lights at the junction of Roman Bank and Sea Lane often causes a bottle neck effect causing tail backs in all directions. The timing of these lights is set to be changed and traffic is going to be directed to use alternative routes toward the village of Ingoldmells. These steps should alleviate congestion around Fantasy Island during busier periods.
