A Grande Plan

Little has happened, since the site was cleared after the fire at the Grande Parade Complex on the sea front in Skegness. Now the Skegness Standard has revealed that the Bola brothers have something up their sleeves for the area where the bar complex once stood. Plans are set to be revealed within the next few weeks, with a completion date of approximately 18 months for the project.

Taj Bola is quoted saying "We're passionate about the resort. We won't let anything bad go on there. We want the image of everything we do to elevate the resort. Some people have come to us with the idea of running a market. It wouldn't be temporary or shabby. The stalls would be uniform and we want people selling things you can't get elsewhere in Skegness."

Tower Gardens Pond Refilled

Anglian Water and Skegness fire fighters have been refilling the pond in the Tower Gardens. The supply was used in their effort to put out the fire that occurred two weeks ago in the Parade Complex on Grande Parade, Skegness. Carl Lawrence, manager of the Tower Gardens has been observing the situation since the fire, and is grateful for the supply being replenished. Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue have issued a statement that they’re happy to help, and will continue to do so until satisfactory levels are recovered in the pond.

Talking about Christmas

It’s that time of year again, well not quite, but Christmas is just around the corner and discussions have been taking place about the Christmas lights and celebrations in Skegness. It was proposed that the council should only pay for one large tree which would stand on Lumley Road whilst requesting businesses to purchase a second tree that normally stands outside the Hildreds Shopping Centre.

However, Coun Gary Ellis, admits to the council judging too soon, and says that both trees will remain for this year, and further decisions would be made in January next year. The Hildreds Shopping Centre, along with the local Hoteliers’ Association supports the town council in organising the Christmas lights and celebrations.

Wild River Experiences Downtime

The Wild River log flume at Bottons amusement park experienced downtime recently whilst a number of people were on the ride. The ride was closed for approximately 30 minutes and riders were helped off of the ride. The ride has since reopened.

Island Quest forum member, “robbogt”, captured the following images as the riders walked away from the ride:-
