Looking for the Eye from the Coast

The Eye on the Coast has popped up in Nottingham city centre. Or so it seems. It looks as though the attraction, that resided at Fantasy Island until it was removed in 2006, is now owned by EJ Mellors amusements. Touring around the UK, the ride has recently been in Cardiff for ten weeks as part of a Winter Wonderland as well as standing beside Windsor Castle. It's not clear how long it will be in Nottingham, but it'll cost you five shiny pounds to take in the view 200 feet above the Nottingham Old Market Square. Here's hoping that one day G-Force will be making a similar trip back to the UK?

G-Force - Lost & Found

G-Force - Lost & Found

The world's largest Fabbri Booster ride - G-Force opened in 2002 alongside Jubilee Odyssey standing at a whopping 164ft in height. The ride was removed in 2004 due technical difficulties, complaints from the locals, popularity issues, running costs and so many more issues.

The ride was exchanged with Mondial for the Eye on the Coast Ferris Wheel, which also broke records...which also followed the same fate. It was removed in 2006 for many of the same reasons as G-Force. Recent photos from Mondial testing grounds in Holland show that G-Force is currently setup and operating at this location.

The ride can be seen at its new location below:

Mondial manufacture both Beast and Amazing Confusion, however, have no link to G-Force which was manufactured by Italian manufacturer Fabbri.

Eye on the Coast Removed

The Ferris Wheel has now been fully dismantled, the entire ride has been packed down onto trailers and is currently nested at the rear of the car park, the gondolas however are not on site. This suggests that the ride is either going to a new park or to another site within the Blue Anchor chain, we have seen rides in the past move to 'Robin Hood Leidure Park' Though a ride of this scale has never made such a move between the two parks to date.

The ride has left a huge footprint, with huge space for development, however at present only a settlement of new market stalls occupies the site.

Fantasy Island Begin Removing The Eye

Yes, Fantasy Island is pulling down the Eye on the Coast! Rumour has it that the ride has been sold to an American theme park. No news yet as to whether or not the Eye’s removal will lead way for any new additions.

Eye on the Coast Set For Removal

Eye on the Coast Set For Removal

After only two seasons of operation Europe’s tallest classical Ferris Wheel the Eye on the Coast is coming down. Following the same path as the world's tallest Fabbri Booster 'G-Force' back in 2004. Presumably the ride has been sold to another park.

The wheel has been missing its gondolas since the start of the season which raised the initial suspicion that the ride would be removed. Fantasy Island has confirmed its removal and that their decision was largely based on their evaluation that ride is unprofitable.

It is unknown when the ride will be dismantled; we expect it will take place prior to the summer.
