Rhombus' Rocket Reopens

Rhombus' Rocket reopened at the weekend after significant maintenance work has taken place on the ride over the last few months. The powered coaster has remained closed since late April, when the train stopped half way around the track; with riders on board who had to be rescued. Reports indicate that the incident was caused due to low insulation readings along the copper line which runs around the track. In related news, Rhombus' Rocket now features on ride photography, so riders of the popular ride can purchase souvenir photographs. Unfortunately, it appears that on ride photography for Jubilee Odyssey is no longer available.

Rhombus Rocket Improvements For 2007 Top Out!

Work has been ongoing throughout the winter to give the rides and attractions a new lease of life for the first season under the ownership of Conduit Leisure. Improvements have included a new station for Rhombus Rocket, which has now at last been completed, the end result can be seen in the image below:

The Rhombus Rocket was one of the few rides that managed to open as scheduled this weekend with not only a new station but a fully refurbished train including replacement wheels for every carriage. The supports for this family coaster have also received a lick of paint over the last couple of weeks, however, the track is still a tremendous state which is crying out for some maintenance work.

New Station For Rhombus Rocket

As part of the winter maintenance a huge amount of work has been done to the Rhombus Rocket station. You may remember before Christmas that a new floor was added, however Fantasy Island have took this another step forward and redubbed the entire station area. This includes the addition of a control booth area, along with brightly coloured fencing to surround the station and also a full repaint. The train has also had some work with every last wheel now brand spanking new

This is not the first time that the park have gone all out for Rhombus, their first roller coaster. In 2004 the ride was equipped with an entirely new support structure and given a full repaint from dark brown to a shade of purple. The actual seats and surrounding framework has also only recently been replaced.

The ride which is still very popular today is now beginning to be prepped for the 2007 season with the train now being placed back on track.

Iím sure you will agree that even though this is a small touch itís great to see the park is still cared for.
