Press Release

An exciting new forum development, coming soon too Island Quest.

Members may have noticed that the Island Quest Forums went offline within the last 24 hours. This is because behind the scenes we are busy working hard on a brand new forum!

Island Quest is upgrading the software which powers the forum system. This will mean a number of extra new benefits for both forum users and staff!

This exciting new forum development is due to go live on Monday 6th August 2007.

Some of the new forum features include:

- Ability to create a friends list.
- Reported/blacklisted posts util.
- Moderator control panel.
- User control panel.
- Ability to block someone.
- A utility to bookmark topics.
- Add attachment files to posts.
- A completely overhauled admin panel that offers more control over the board than the current.
- Quick search feature.
- Auto delete function of zero posting members.
- Cleaner interface.

Our continued investment into the Island Quest forums is part of the long term development plan of Island Quest and reflects the continued development to Island Quest as a whole.

A selection of anticipated questions have been answered below.

Common Questions

Q. Will my post count reset on the new forums?
A. No. We are using the existing database so all posts will be transferred over to the new forums to keep disruption to a minimum.

Q. Why change the forum? The old one was fine!
A. Behind the scenes, newer software offers increased security! It also offers more features for members. Essentially in the long run it will be a worthwhile investment for us to upgrade now!

Q. What changes will I see?
A. Not much really. Certain area’s may be set out differently however the basic functions operate in a similar way as per before!

Q. Will there be much downtime?
A. Downtime will be kept minimal. Any downtime after the new forum goes live will be kept mostly to when the forum is usually at its quietest.

Island Quest would like to thank all its members for their patience during the launch of our new forum and would like to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused during the transfer.

Kind Regards,
Island Quest Team.
