Impact's Tilting Era Comes to An End

Volcanic Impact or Volcanic Eruption as its more commonly known was equipped with tilting seats for 2003 season. After which the once reliable ride experienced a series of technical difficulties resulting in persistent downtime.

Due to this the park has now come to the decision to return Impact to its previous fixed seating positions. We have learnt that the mechanisms which allow the ride to tilt were at fault; consistently tearing themselves apart.

This world first for an S&S Launched Freefall ride is no more.

Odyssey Up and Running

Odyssey Up and Running

With recent technical difficulties in the past, Jubilee Odyssey is back up and running. Operating of an equivalent velocity to 2005, surprisingly a little smoother. On another positive note the well known clonking sound on the lift hill is no longer present.

As previously reported the train was sent to manufacturer Vekoma for modification in September 2005. Fantasy Island has now confirmed that this was the result of a major breakdown, in which a restraint connector snapped. All restraints were replaced by Vekoma, equipped with toughened steel.

Presumably in an attempt smoothen the ride the side wheels were tightened while at Vekoma factories which led into the rollback. This caused a large amount of friction when the ride attempted its first test run of 2006, causing a rollback on the infamous horseshoe turn element.

This strongly suggests that this was a one off rollback, and is therefore not expected to reoccur during 2006. On the other hand technical difficulties are ongoing with the new restraint systems. Over the spring bank week the ride was down numerous times for restraint repairs.

Eye on the Coast Removed

Eye on the Coast Removed

The Ferris Wheel has now been fully dismantled, the entire ride has been packed down onto trailers and is currently nested at the rear of the car park, the gondolas however are not on site. This suggests that the ride is either going to a new park or to another site within the Blue Anchor chain, we have seen rides in the past move to 'Robin Hood Leidure Park' Though a ride of this scale has never made such a move between the two parks to date.

The ride has left a huge footprint, with huge space for development, however at present only a settlement of new market stalls occupies the site.

Odyssey Train Rescued From Rollback

The Odyssey train was present in the station during the May bank holiday weekend. The ride did however fail to open to the public. Only time will tell whether this was a one off rollback, or the technical issues of 2002 have returned. More on this as it develops.

Fantasy Island Begin Removing The Eye

Yes, Fantasy Island is pulling down the Eye on the Coast! Rumour has it that the ride has been sold to an American theme park. No news yet as to whether or not the Eyes removal will lead way for any new additions.
