Easter Weekend Snippets

A disappointing Easter weekend at Fantasy Island; with the two signature attractions down. Both Absolutely Insane and Jubilee Odyssey failed to see the light of day.

Absolutely Insane as yet to recover from the off season; the carriage as not yet been restored. Jubilee Odyssey on the other hand spent the weekend at the bottom of its fifth inversion, due to its first rollback since summer 2002.

Elsewhere, all other rides were operating although itís worth mentioning that Volcanic Impact was not tilting. On a final note the park was not as busy as expected, a quiet Easter weekend compared to previous seasons.

Eye on the Coast Set For Removal

Eye on the Coast Set For Removal

After only two seasons of operation Europeís tallest classical Ferris Wheel the Eye on the Coast is coming down. Following the same path as the world's tallest Fabbri Booster 'G-Force' back in 2004. Presumably the ride has been sold to another park.

The wheel has been missing its gondolas since the start of the season which raised the initial suspicion that the ride would be removed. Fantasy Island has confirmed its removal and that their decision was largely based on their evaluation that ride is unprofitable.

It is unknown when the ride will be dismantled; we expect it will take place prior to the summer.

Jubilee Odyssey Rollback

Jubilee Odyssey Rollback

Fantasy Island's signature attraction Jubilee Odyssey has experienced its first rollback since its opening season (2002). The train failed to complete the horseshoe turn a week prior to the Easter weekend; the parks busiest weekend of the year.

Attempts have already been made to rescue the stalled train; using a block and tackle engineers hauled the train to the highest point of the horseshoe turn. The train was then dropped into next inversion (sidewinder), we can however report that the train also failed to complete the sidewinder. The train remained at the base of the sidewinder throughout the Easter weekend.

The cause is yet unknown, Island Quest as however learned that the train was shipped to Vekoma in September 2005 for modifications. Could this be an attempt by Fantasy Island to create a smoother ride?

Nothing New For Fantasy Island In 2006

We've got official word from the park, nothing new for 2006! This is the second season running in which the park have failed to provide any new attractions for park guests. The reason for this is unknown, however the most likely explanation seems that the park have simply run out of space.

The future does look bright however, as the park has cleared a huge sector of land next to the Beast; moving all kiddie rides to the front of Volcanic Impact in which the fashion show was based. The fashion show has now been relocated to the opposite side of Sea Lane.

2006 Season Begins

Today kicked off the parks 11th season, Fantasy Island is now open weekends through until Easter when the park will open daily.

However we would recommend those wishing to try the roller coasters, or Absolutely Insane holding off on visiting until Easter. The park has clearly stated that limited amenities will be available during March and early April.

Fantasy Island has yet to release any details on possible new attractions for 2006.
