Fireworks Event - Big Success

The Easter Saturday fireworks display with a guest appearance from singer Ray Quinn was a big success according to local papers:

"Probably the most spectacular Fireworks Display ever seen in the Skegness area delighted crowds at Ingoldmells on Saturday night.
The display, accompanied by rousing music, was held to mark the new season at 'The Market' at Fantasy Island under new owners Conduit Leisure.

The fireworks were let off over the Fantasy Island Pyramid to a large crowd which had gathered in Sea Lane.

The half hour show was put on by 'Star Fireworks' who produced the display for TV's 'Big Brother' programme.

Many of those in the crowd had obviously come to watch the fireworks. But probably at least an equal draw was a Guest Appearance by singer Ray Quinn of TV's X-Factor fame.

The singer, whose Album has reached number one spot in the charts, charmed people by signing autographs and having his photograph taken with them".

The key highlight of the display was that the fireworks weren't launched from a single location. They were launched from many areas of the park, including most impressively the top of the Odyssey coaster's lift hill! Other fireworks were launched from both car parks and the market. The park also hired rotating spot lights that projected four beams thousands of feet upwards into the night sky.

With the BIG weekend planned in August and September this looks like only a taste of things to come.

Fireworks Event Outline

X Factors Ray Quinn will be making an appearance at this Easters firework bash down at Fantasy Island. The fireworks display is set to be the largest display the east coast has ever seen. The entire display will be rigged up by Star Fireworks. If you've watched the TV show Big Brother you will be familiar with displays by Star Fireworks from the finale nights on the show.

The schedule is as follows:

. Fantasy Island rides will operate all day into the night time, giving you a chance to experience your favourite rides in the dark.

. At 7pm Ray Quinn will make his guest appearance.

. The fireworks extravaganza will begin at 9pm.

Park owner Lawrence Davis insists this is only a taste of what the summer will bring. He mentioned: "We have an amazing programme of attractions and entertainment planned for the summer and we want to give everyone a taste of our plans at the start of the season.
It will be a night to remember and is sure to attract high numbers of people from the whole of the East Midlands."

For the entire Easter weekend there will be the opportunity to enter a free prize draw, with the winner collecting a family holiday to Orlando, Florida. Six family holidays, including one luxury all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas, will be up for grabs for market customers throughout the season.

Also planned is a Fantasy Island Loyalty Card. The exact details of this are as yet unknown, but is expected to encourage more visitors to the park.

Coaster Trains Reinstalled

Trains for both Millennium Coaster and Jubilee Odyssey have now been reinstalled following their removal for the winter off season. Furthermore Millennium Coaster has now been fully tested is ready to reopen to the public this week. Odyssey is expected to begin testing any day now, and is expected to be open for the Easter weekend.

Fantasy Island have an history of failing to open their signature rides at the start of the season. Last season Odyssey did not open until May, neither did Absolutely Insane which is still not open for 2007. Easter is usually the time when most rides reopen and normality resumes - if we look at previous years all rides were open for Easter in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Along with the fireworks; this Easter looks set be one to remember!

Changes to Opening Times

Fantasy Island have made several alterations to the 2007 opening times. The first notable change is that the entire park will be open for 2 weeks over Easter from the 31st March to the 15th April. Originally the park didn't plan on opening until Good Friday. However, we can confirm that until the Easter weekend the rides will close at around 3pm.

The second change to the opening times is that the park will not open daily until May the 5th. As opposed to the 28th of April as originally planned. From the 16th of April to the 4th of May the park will open weekends only.

No Coasters For the 2nd Week Running

Both Jubilee Odyssey and Millennium Coaster have once again failed to open this weekend, after also being down last weekend. Amazing Confusion and Absolutely Insane have also been closed this weekend. All four of these rides have yet to reopen for 2007. However, it appears that the trains are now beginning to be reinstalled to the coasters so there is a high possibility that one or both will be running next weekend.
